Growing Our Leadership
Flourishing new starts
We love to get our hands in the soil at Seed to Table, growing fresh, local produce. Over the last ten years, our farm and our programs have expanded and matured. We've nurtured new starts: education programs, food access initiatives, and Sisters Farmers Market.
Our programs, the number of community members we serve, the amount of veggies we grow… our staff, volunteers, donors, funders, and Board of Directors… all these have grown as we work to meet local needs. Seeing our efforts flourish brings us joy!
Now Seed to Table is ready to grow our leadership team, too.
Meeting the farm’s growing needs
Our 10-year anniversary inspired us to reflect on Seed to Table’s journey—the history behind us and the future beckoning us forward. Our founder and Executive Director, Audrey Tehan, has essentially been shouldering two full-time positions: leading the farm and acting as the nonprofit Executive Director (ED).
It became clear that expanding the leadership team was the next step in realizing our mission. We're pleased to add a new full-time position: Farm Director.
The decision was made through a strategic planning process. We worked with the Board and Audrey. We hired consultants. We listened to Seed to Table’s staff. Working together, we decided to add a full-time Farm Director position to focus and provide leadership for the large and dynamic operation the farm has become.
Next steps for our leadership
Audrey is eager to step into the Farm Director role and feels it's the perfect next step for her and Seed to Table. She says, "I'm excited to focus more deeply on the heart and foundation of Seed to Table—farm growth, development and sustainability. I will spend more time leading on the farm with my hands in the dirt, and creating an even more inspiring place for students to learn."
Our team looks forward to bringing in the additional leadership of an experienced Executive Director who will steward the multifaceted organization Seed to Table has become. Hiring a new ED and creating the Farm Director position will help us move more effectively and efficiently into another successful decade.
The new ED will manage the organization's daily activities and budgets, support our Program Directors, explore potential business strategies, and work with the Board to ensure Seed to Table continues to live out our vision for a healthy, thriving community where everyone has access to nourishing food and farm-based learning.
